Your data, your call
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
In short: what you log in our apps (meals, photos, weight, workouts, sleep and Apple Health data) stays on your device and is never sent to us. We collect only limited, technical diagnostic and performance data to keep the apps working well, plus your email address if you choose to join a waitlist. We don’t sell your data, don’t show ads and don’t track you across other apps or websites.
1. Who we are and what this covers
This policy is provided by DayDay (“DayDay”, “we”, “us”). It applies to our website at dayday.app (the “Site”) and to our apps, including Forward and Rest (the “Apps”; together with the Site, the “Services”). Forward and Rest are in development. If an App handles data differently from what is described here when it launches, we will update this policy before that version is released.
Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy gives additional information required by certain U.S. state laws and forms part of this policy.
2. The short version
| Type of data | Where it lives | Do we receive it? |
|---|---|---|
| Meals, portions, calories, notes and meal photos you add | On your device | No |
| Weight, workouts, goals, reminders, sleep entries | On your device | No |
| Apple Health data you allow (e.g. steps, active and resting energy, weight) | Read on your device | No |
| Diagnostic and performance data (crashes, app speed, device and OS type) | Sent to us or our service providers | Yes, limited and not linked to your health content |
| Your email address, if you join a waitlist on the Site | Our database (Cloudflare) | Yes, only to tell you when the app launches |
| Messages you send us (e.g. support emails) | Our email provider | Yes, only what you choose to send |
The Apps don’t require an account. We don’t ask for your name, email address or phone number to use them.
3. Data that stays on your device
Everything you log, and everything the Apps calculate from it (such as estimates of what you have left to eat, your weight trend or your sleep times), is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store this content and we cannot see it. Meal photos you choose to attach are saved on your device as a reduced-size copy; the Apps only access photos you select.
Because this data is on your device, you are responsible for it. If you delete an App, reset or lose your device, the data may be lost unless it is included in a device backup you control (for example, an iCloud or computer backup made by your device’s operating system). We can’t recover it for you. You can export your data from an App’s settings and delete it there at any time.
4. Data we collect
We collect only the following, and only to keep the Services reliable and fast:
Diagnostic and performance data
- Crash reports and error logs (for example, which part of the App failed and the technical state at that moment);
- Performance measurements, such as launch time, responsiveness, memory use and battery impact;
- Technical details, such as device model, operating system version, App version, language and region settings;
- Basic, aggregated feature usage (for example, that a screen was opened or a feature failed), without the content you entered.
This data is not used to identify you and does not include your meals, photos, weight, sleep entries, Apple Health data or any notes you write. Some diagnostics may be provided to us by Apple if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings; you can change this in iOS Settings at any time.
Information you choose to send us
If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and use it only to reply and help you. Please don’t send us health information you would rather keep private.
Waitlist sign-ups
If you join a waitlist on the Site, we receive your email address, which app you signed up for, the page and language you used, and the time. See Waitlist.
Website request data
When you visit the Site, our hosting provider processes standard request data (see This website).
5. Apple Health
With your permission, Forward reads certain data from Apple Health, such as steps, active energy, resting energy and body weight, to estimate how much energy you burn and to show your trend. Forward does not write to Apple Health. You choose which data types to allow, and you can change or withdraw access at any time in iOS Settings or the Health app.
Data from Apple Health is processed only on your device, is never sent to us, and is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, sold, or shared with third parties.
6. How we use data
We use the limited data we collect to:
- find and fix crashes, bugs and slow parts of the Services;
- understand, in aggregate, which features work well so we can improve them;
- keep the Services secure and prevent abuse;
- email you when an app you joined the waitlist for launches;
- respond to you when you contact us; and
- comply with legal obligations.
We don’t use any data to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we don’t build advertising profiles.
7. Legal bases (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the Services working, secure and improving to process diagnostic and performance data, and on contract or legitimate interests to answer your messages. Health-related data is handled on your device under your control, with your explicit consent given through the App and system permission prompts; you can withdraw it at any time in your device settings without affecting earlier processing. Where we must process data to meet a legal obligation, that is our legal basis.
8. Who we share data with
We share the limited data we collect only with:
- Service providers that process it on our behalf and under our instructions, such as hosting (Cloudflare, Inc. for the Site), crash reporting and performance monitoring, and email. They may only use it to provide their services to us.
- Apple, as the App Store and platform provider, under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
- Authorities or others when required by law, or when necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or DayDay.
- A successor if DayDay is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to the data transferred.
9. No selling, no ads, no tracking
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- The Apps show no ads and contain no advertising networks.
- We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not use your device’s advertising identifier.
10. How long we keep data
Data on your device stays there until you delete it or the App. Diagnostic and performance data is kept only as long as needed to investigate and fix issues and to measure improvements, after which it is deleted or kept only in aggregated form that no longer relates to any device. Messages you send us are kept as long as needed to help you and for our records, then deleted. Waitlist email addresses are deleted within 12 months after the app launches, or sooner if you ask.
11. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
12. Security
We keep what we collect to a minimum, which is itself the strongest protection. Data in transit is encrypted, and access to the diagnostic data we hold is limited. Data on your device is protected by your device’s own security; please use a passcode and keep your device up to date. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
13. Your choices and rights
- Control on your device: view, edit, export or delete your App data in the App’s settings; remove it entirely by deleting the App.
- Permissions: allow or revoke Apple Health, photo and notification access in iOS Settings at any time.
- Diagnostics: turn off sharing analytics with app developers in iOS Settings.
- Your legal rights: depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of personal data we hold about you, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, contact us (see below). We will verify and respond within the time required by law. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Because we don’t receive your App content, a request to access or delete it is fulfilled on your device: export or delete it in the App.
14. U.S. state privacy rights
Residents of certain U.S. states (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and others) may have rights to know, access, correct and delete personal information, and to opt out of its sale, sharing for targeted advertising, and profiling. We do not sell or share personal information, do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling, and do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require an opt-out. In the past 12 months we have collected only the categories described in Data we collect (device and diagnostic information, waitlist email addresses, and the contact details and messages you send us), for the purposes in How we use data. You won’t be discriminated against for exercising your rights. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. Additional information for Washington, Nevada and similar laws is in our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
15. Children
The Services are intended for adults aged 18 and over and are not directed to children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
16. Waitlist
The Forward and Rest pages have an optional waitlist. If you join, we store your email address, the app, the page and language you signed up from, and the time, in a database hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. We use it only to email you when that app launches, and possibly a short note if the launch is delayed. We don’t add you to a newsletter, sell or share the list, or use it for advertising. Our legal basis in the EEA and UK is your consent; you can withdraw it, or ask us to delete your address, at any time by emailing us or replying to any email we send.
We also count clicks on “Join the waitlist” buttons to see how much interest there is. Each count records only the app, the page and the time, with no IP address, cookie, device identifier or anything else that could identify you.
17. This website
Apart from the optional waitlist, the Site has no accounts or forms, sets no cookies, and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. All fonts, images and styles are served from our own domain. The Site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which processes technical request data (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver and protect the Site, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We don’t use this information to identify you.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Services change. We will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, for example if an App starts sending data off your device that it didn’t before, we will tell you in the App or on the Site before the change takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
